"On my Own" is an eerie and mysterious alternative rock track that breathes the atmosphere of the music that was made in the famous CBGB Club in NYC.

A place where famous bands like the Talking Heads, Patti Smith Group, Blondie and Tom Verlaine's Television performed. A very arty place.

Originally Long Tall J created the music for "On my Own" as a tribute to the Dutch rock group "The Scene" who's famous singer "Thé Lau" passed away in June 2015. He tried to locate a Dutch singer who could create vocals to the Dutch lyrics he wrote but it didn't work out. 

​

Singer Mariia Arkhipova came to the rescue as she created the melody for "On my Own" using phonetic singing. Long Tall J wrote the lyrics and fitted the words to the melody and this way the second cooperation between them became a fact. 

​

The lyrics of "On my Own" are about a strong woman who is breaking free from a for her "too standard" relationship although she is still emotionally attached to her partner. 

​

The end of the song consists of the sound of a barn door opening and closing and a person running away while we hear thunder and rain. It symbolises the new life that the character of "On my Own" is starting.

The music was recorded in the home studio of Long Tall J in London and the vocals were recorded, mixed and mastered by producer Ivan Luzan in Kyiv, Ukraine.
