Seven of Nine

LTJ logo.png

Seven of Nine was a former Borg drone who joined the crew of the Starship Voyager under command of Captain Kathryn Janeway as part of the Sci-fi series Star Trek. She was a strong character and although part of the crew she was also very independent. She first appeared in the series in 1997.

In the series she was romantically involved with fellow crew member Chakotay. When Captain Braxton of the Federation timeship USS "Relativity" pulls her out of the timestream to help prevent the destruction of Voyager the travel has effects on her body, and she dies.

Seven of Nine was played by American actress Jeri Ryan.

This track was originally intended for vocals but I later on decided that it was melodically strong enough to go without. The chorus melody is played with a slide and has this kind of American feel.

The association with the character of Seven of Nine came by chance as this track is the ninth and one but last that I composed for the third album. The music of this track somehow matches the powerful and very feminine appearance of Seven of Nine. I associated 'Nine' with 'Seven of Nine' and the rest is history.

The bass guitar on this track is played by 'Megabassman' from Kyiv, Ukraine. Influenced by both funk and soul and powerful rock his style carries this genuine rock track.
